College, Interrupted: Profiles in First-Year College Students Responses to the COVID-19 Pandemic Across One Year

First-year college students in the 2019-2020 academic year are at risk of having their mental health, identity work, and careers derailed as a result COVID-19 pandemic. To assess emerging evolving impacts pandemic on health/well-being, development, resilience, we collected data from racially, ethnically, geographically, economically diverse group 629 four universities across US within weeks lockdown, then followed up these students’ self-reported identity, resilience three times over following year. Our findings suggest that: 1) were largely negatively impacted compared to pre-pandemic samples; 2) alterations persisted and, some cases, worsened wore on; 3) patterns change often worse for indicating more baseline COVID-related stressors.
